NEWS ON FLICKER SHADS
I talked to the guys at Berkley yesterday and they said that I could bring everyone up to date on the Flicker Shad status. As most of you know, they have been getting more and more difficult to find and the the fear was that they were going to be discontinued. I'm happy to bring to you the news that not only are they not going to be discontinued, they are going to be carried by pretty much every major tackle retailer this next year and for years to come. You'll start seeing new supplies showing up at the stores as early as December and in full swing by January. The baits are going to increase in price to the $4.00 range (don't quote me on that), but that's still much less than other shad baits. This bait has been a heavy hitter in professional walleye fishing since it's introduction, with 10's of thousands of dollars won. Just this last year of the tournaments that I know about: top ten finishes in the AIM Saginaw event, first place and other top tens in the Green Bay AIM event, top tens in the Lake Oahe AIM event, contributed to first and second in the FLW tour championship, and contributed to the FLW League championship win. Quite frankly no other bait has come close to these type of finishs. If you haven't fished a Flicker Shad, you've been missing out of some pretty good fish catching! The other GREAT NEWS is that there will be many, many new colors! Some of the colors were designed by Keith and myself, with even more colors designed by some of the retail stores! Here is a preview of one of my favorites, and I'll give you sneak peeks periodically!
Now if they would just make it with a larger treble, say a size #5 instead of a #6. I fish on Lake Norfork and sometimes hook a Striper with them.
Bob
Do you know if they addressed, or fixed the problem with the hooks pulling out?
They fixed that problem quite a while ago but they didn't recall the bad ones so they may still be out there. That is the best news I've gotten in a while, time to save up.
I do know that they were trying to address the problem and believe that they are improved. But to be truthful Jim, with all of the big hogs you put in the boat every year, I don't think any crankbait would hold up real long!
I do know that Val's Bait and Tackle has a large assortment of colors in both 5's and 7's. They are located just north of Stockbridge on hwy 55 on Carney Rd. or feel free to call them at 920.439.1540. I recently purchased about 50 of them, so I know they have a large variety of colors.
Good point Mr Parsons
.
That's awesome news! Thanks for sharing with us all here.
Most excellent Gary.
I will be adding another box soon - and they are going to be in it!

Lurenet.com is the online store for company that owns Smithwick. If the color is still made they usually have it.
Good luck.
Dan
Thanks a lot I found them on there.
So does anyone have pics of the new Flicker Shad colors? Anyone? Bueleler?
Steve,
I think you will hear more about colors when Gary and or Keith get more information about all the color schemes that will be available. Be patient grasshopper.. :)

Anyone else having a hard time getting on Scheels's website lately?
What about the Berkley firestick minnow? That is impossible to find and that is a awesome nightfishing bait. I am down to limited number of them preferably in the black and gold color. Anyone know who has them and if they are still produced?
Gary, Is there any look towards a banana bait style like a taildancer as that is an awesome lure but $8 and a limited color scheme leave some room for someone else in that market as well.
Karl Hanson
And in Missouri. Jim when you come to get your boat this year I may have to have you bring me a care package.
They look good so far. Keep um comin.
bigfisherman, check out ebay for the firestick minnows ,also fishermans factory warehouse ffo-tackle.com they have some in firetiger right now. steve kreis
I hit my monster eyes on the 7cm Sunset color. Everywhere I go and for any species I fish for, that darn color and action is like like giving my dog a plate of canned Alpo, you can say no, but he don't care what you say or do. That Alpo is his. I have caught monster 16 and 17 inch crappie, a 7 pound saugeye and numerous 3 to 6 pound walleyes on that particular color. I feel that for here in Northwest Ohio, the Sunset Flicker Shad with a gold Bass Pro shops fish weight in front of it is the most awesome fish catching combo below 20 feet. i can not be more happier to hear that they are coming back because im tire of paying $10 a bait on ebay.
Hey Gary, or Keith, can you see what you can do to help Bass Pro Shops in Rossford Ohio carry the Flicker Shad line. That would make my day.
Thanks A Million
