Sounds good. I'll be there. Does Pete make Mark wear one of those ugly pink hats?

This should be a great one. We had a ball ... and, surprise surprise ... Z-Train was quite the character. (don't think I got Z with the pink fuzzy this time.)

Yeah, thanks Bill. That was a screw-up there. I'd told some folks Saturday as well ... musta been confused with Gillespie show. The Zona show is on tomorrow, at 8am EST.

Pete, my wife asked, "Is he always that crazy?" She must have meant you because I come from the same little slice of the world as Zona and we know there are no crazies from that atmosphere!

Really? Don't get ESPN 2? I'm pretty sure will air again and will keep folks posted. I watched today.

Zona is a bit crazy ... I'm certain that's who the wife is actually talking about ... couldn't be me

How does a guy suddenly decide ... with one pike - of many .... that it should be a "Alien" birth-scene.

Greetings Pete,

I enjoyed the "WGFS" with you and Zona, looked like great fun.

I am interested in one particular bait used on the show that I believe could be employed on my local waters. This particular bait was in one of the first scenes. It appeared to be a lip-less sub surface, hard jerk bait style lure @ 6 or 8 inches long with a profile similar to that of a  "Tuna" with a pronounced belly. The bait was chrome with possibly a black back and some green on the belly. This lure was similar to the Savage Gear (Freestyler or Deviator) but again seemed to have a more pronounced belly. I hope my description is enough for you to know what I am asking about.

What bait was this? Who is the manufacturer? Is it a "walk the dog" type of lure or a "jerk pause" lure?

Thanks, Hallam Cottingham

Hallam SC,

Dont know if Hallam is your name or not but I did not see it in your post.  I believe the bait you are referring to is the Sebile Bonga Jerk made by the Sebile Lure Co.

Incredible show by the way... Too bad Zona doesn't like to goof around and have fun.

Thanks Dan,

Yeah, SC, please offer full name if you can per our board policies here. Thanks for the kind words on the show and the interest.

Dan is correct about the company, although not the exact lure ... the Bonga is very similar - and I've had luck on it as well for both muskie and pike ... the bait in question in this case was the Stick Shadd in largest (nearly 8 inches) size. We were mainly fishing deeper cabbage, so the sinking model was deadly for that.

Pete

Mark,

Hats are here: http://www.schramband.com/store.aspx    just scroll down the page. They DO make a fashion statement on the water.

Pete used to have them on his site but I don't see them now.

Yeah, that was a fun show to watch.  You guys really hammered them, that's for sure!!

Say....speaking of pink hats.  Here's a shot from this weekend in our icehouse on Lake of the Woods.

Thanks man. Yeah, we sure did hammer 'em. We were like little kids. Great photo (again) man! You're looking great ... but who's that guy behind you?

Mark, dunno where Z-train comes up with the stuff. I mean, we caught lots of pike, but suddenly, he just looks at this one little dude - and decides it needs to pop out of his belly ... as a little alien. Believe me, this wasn't pre-discussed ... having been with Z quite a bit, I wasn't too shocked ... our poor guide Greg, however ... (the spinner was actually a Bass Pro bait, but sure may be similar).

Glad you got the hat man. Thanks for providing the info Chris!

I thought that was one of the funniest parts of the show.  Z had the alien going on and was pointing and laughing at the guide.  I wish the camera had been on the guides face, he would have had a look like "what the......"

You should bring Z back again on your show for more muskies.

Poor Greg ... everyone once in a while Z would just plop down in his chair, take a break and start asking him personal questions ... we knew all about how many kids, history with wives, the community. Seriously, Greg was a real cool dude - and a great guide ... not certain he was quite ready for Z though.

With the Alien thing, no doubt the camera should have been on Greg - as I'm not certain what was funnier - Greg's facial expressions or the Alien act.

Good suggestion - very tough to do from a scheduling standpoint as both so busy running around, but sure hope to do that again.
