Last week I received my 6' HM85 & 7' HM85 rods' from Bass Pro and took advantage of their Spring Classic Sale - very impressed. Also purchased the recommended balance kits. Question in regards to choosing a main line for live bait rigging. Which is a better choice selection? Using 6/2 Fireline (no stretch line) or 6lb Sensation/Maxx/TrileneXT (a low stretch line) attached to a leader line of 6lb Sensation and/or Flourocarbon? Thanks for the help.

Personally, for LB rigging, I like either the FireLine (for deep water applications - deeper than 25 ft) and Sensation for everything else (6# or 8# test). I typically do not like Fluorocarbon for livebait leader material because I feel it weighs down the presentation (fluoro sinks), so I use 5# test Sensation.

Mark,

I'll try out Sensation on both main and snell line for live bait < 25 ft. Was not aware that Fluorocarbon sinks - good info to know.

I like 6 pound Berkley Fireline for my mainline - especially if I am rigging with a long leader (6 to 10 foot) because it will have plenty of stretch to fight the fish in nicely. The Fireline is no-stretch so makes it easier to feel bottom and I can usually go a to a bit lighter Tech Stik weight.
