I have a HDS-5.  I have lost my temperature setting.  All I get are three dash lines where the temperature setting used to be.  Any suggestions.  I have all the latest updates from Lowrance.  I had the readings since I bought the unit.  My last time out I turned the unit on and noticed I lost the reading.  Again any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

a couple trips back noticed the temperature readings were off...was picking up 50's when the water was high 70-80 degrees F...

Now, it's not reading.  Same issue...  HDS-7 is the unit...

Interested in the responses...

have you tried an "auto-configure"  - when I 1st got my HDS10 unit I was getting "---" for temp - I had to go in to the menus and select the right data source for temp - I can't remember the specifics now - I think it was looking at a temp source that was not there - I just changed the settings to use the xducer I had...

Not sure why it used to work and now does not - did it change along with a recent software update?    Good luck...

first things first, I'm going to run through all my connections and confirm them...take apart, clean, apply 'lithium grease'...

I do know I put the update in before I started working on all my connections initially...

my temp reading did work after the updates.  I have had no problems with the unit, out of the box,  until this issue.  Everything works fine except the " --- temp"  for temp.

Bruce

Thanks for the info.  I have tried "restore defaults" twice with no luck but may try it again,   Having tried it twice I am leaning towards a faulty transducer.  I do know anyone , who has a working hds where I could hook mine up to see what happens.

Thanks again

mwardncsu  gave the correct advice. Have you even tried 'auto configure"?

What upgrade are you guys talking of?  Upgrade to what version# ?

I am up-to-date on my software on my HDS-10 and have no issues.

This weekend I had my temp showing up as "---", I had hooked up my bow mounted HDS-5X for the 1st time in a while (well, at least since doing the latest software upgrade) - I did not do the auto-configure,  but when into one of the system menus to get a list of devices and when I selected the temperature device a "invalid" device was listed and I had to change it back to the local xducer.....  hopefully it won't keep changing on me as I don't often put the bow HDS on unless I'm casting or occassionaly when getting bait.....  Sorry I can't remember the exact menu sequence, but its there - poke around and it has to do with device configuration.

Now, if you're getting just an invalid temp that is way off from what it should be, then I would suspect another issue...

I called Lowrance and they were more that helpful.  They spent a lot of time with me trying to get my HDS-5 Temp  (---Temp)  working.  They thought it might  be the transducer and Lowrance is sending me a new one.  Hope to get it in a few days and try again.

Thanks to all for the help.  Thought I would add this to keep everyone who helped posted.

Again Thanks for the help
