No more extra battery for Verado?
I have a 300 vrod, 9.9 Pro Kicker, 101 Terova and 5 BIG batteries. I understand there now is an isolator kit which triggers when the kicker starts up that only engages the power steering pump and not the additional electronics associated with the Verado and SmartCraft gauges. The kicker is able to supply enough current to run the power steering and not create a draw on the starter battery.
Just talked to Mercury and they gave me the following part #'s:
isloator: 809621
wire harness: 84-89180K01
This should allow me to eliminate one of the batteries and the associted charger while lightening up the boat a bit.

I came across this on another forum. Two new Ranger 621's came rigged this way and are running fine. A friend of mine is taking delivery of a 621/275 vrod next week which is supposedly rigged this way also and I'm going to check it out first hand. I've ordered the parts for myself and will let all know how it works.
I couldn't find anything on the various Mercury websites. I'm going to give Ranger a call today as they appear to be the "early adopters" of this set up.
Certainly would be nice to elimate one of my batteries and the associated charger.
