Red NMEA power node
I just installed another HDS10/HDS 8/Structure Scan setup for a friend of mine that had to have it one after seeing mine. His boat was originally rigged with an LCX 27c, LCX 38HD, and NMEA network. After running the ethernet cables and connecting the NMEA network cables, I noticed that the NMEA network was being powered through the LCX units and not a power node. As it will take 4 days to get the power node, I'd like to just make my own using a short network cable that I have. I called tech support and was told that they didn't have the color code for the cable. Subsequently, I found this on the Lowrance Site:

By checking continuity, I've found the the positive pin 2 on the male plug is the red wire in the cable. The negative pin 1 on the male plug is the shield. The black, blue and white would not be used and show no continuity with the others.
I own a mobile electronics store and am a MECP certified installer so this stuff is basic but would just like some confirmation before I light up a $5,000 network!
I know, I know...why take any chances with this expensive of gear for a $49 part. It's not the money, it's the time factor.
Chris??? JD????
Thanks,
Phil

you can use the LCX to power the network or the powernode........ but DO NOT power it twice! sorry for the slow responce.... computer died......
