Go Super Erratic for More Muskies
Erratic action can be a big triggering factor for Muskies. It’s the easy-meal, wounded look. Twitching cranks has been popular for years, and jerkbaits are erratic by nature.
Sometimes however, taking it to a whole new level can be good thing. This technique can be especially effective in warmer water conditions when you know fish are there, but can’t get them to strike. It’s time to get crazy. Use a real heavy-action rod (like the 7’ 6 rod in my Bass Pro signature series) so you can create the ultimate in snap. Take your favorite cranks and snap-jerk them in. Hard. The more erratic the better. It works with soft plastics and jerkbaits too. It’s a physically demanding way to fish, but it often triggers fish that otherwise wouldn’t hit. So if all you're getting are followers, go nuts and throw them something super erratic! You may just cause a feeding frenzy.
