Try Jig & Plastic for Walleyes

Most of you that have attended one of my fishing seminars know that I’m a huge fan of Berkley Powerbait. It works great for me while jigging, rigging, and bottom bouncing with spinners. In fact, my confidence in Berkley Powerbait is so high that more and more I’m leaving the live bait at home!
All live bait (and Powerbait) needs some kind of "delivery system" to get the bait to the fish. What I mean by a "delivery system" is some kind of weight to sink the bait and a hooking device to catch the fish. The lead head jig is probably the most efficient, versatile, and effective bait "delivery system" available.
Casting jigs and Powerbait for walleyes and bass along weed lines is one of my favorite fishing techniques. Find a productive weed line by searching with your electronics and your underwater camera. I like to fish weed lines with irregularities in them. Look for points, rock piles, cups…the more cover options the better. These irregularities in the weed line give walleyes and bass an ambush point to hang out in until they are ready to feed.
The Gopher Tackle Mushroom Head jig is my number one choice of jig head design for this pattern. The Mushroom Head jig has a flat back design that sheds debris from snagging the plastic body and gives the offering a streamlined, natural look. The jig’s double barbs keep the Powerbait in place though the most difficult underwater weed beds. The double barbs also keep those pesky little pan fish from pulling the plastic down around the hook gap. The Mushroom Head jig is made in the U.S.A. with high quality hooks and there is no paint in the eyelets.
